SALIVARY GLAND NEOPLASMS: ANALYSIS OF 142 CASES WITH RESPECT TO HISTOLOGIC TYPES, SITES, AGE AND SEX DISTRIBUTION

Summary

Most of the tumors of salivary glands are in the parotis gland and are benign. Despite this fact, the glands they are located and the histologic types show variations in different populations. In this study, we investigated cases which were diagnosed as salivary glands tumors at Erciyes University Medical School Pathology department for histologic type, localization and epidemiology. In this article, the most common site of salivary gland tumors revealed to be the parotis gland. The most common benign tumor was pleomorfic adenoma, whereas contrary to literature, adenoid cystic carcinoma was the most frequent malignant tumor.
