Summary

Systemic amyloidosis often involves the thyroid and in some cases, amyloid deposition is associated with fatty infiltration of the gland. This article describes six cases of chronic renal failure patients who had systemic amyloidosis involving the thyroid. We examined the relationship between the pattern and density of both amyloid deposition and fatty infiltration. The amount of fat and the amiloid showed correlation.
