In last ten years, the distribution by age, sex and frequency of cancers which diagnosed in Pathology departments of medical faculty hospital, National Hospital and Social Insurance Hospital of Gaziantep, are evaluated. The findings obtained from this study are compared with the results of other studies that showing cancer frequency of different regions of Turkey.
The number of male and female patients with cancers 864 (%62,8) and 511(%37,2) respectively. The ratio of male/female was 1,7. It was seen that bladder (%16,5), prostate (%14,1), larynx (%12,2) and lung (%12) cancers were the most frequent cancers in male patients. Whereas in female patients, breast (%19), ovary (%7,6) and cervix (%7,2) cancers were the most frequent cancers. It was observed that bladder cancers in male patients, ovary and cervix cancers in female patients were the significantly higher than Turkey' s rate. It seems to be important to investigate of protective measures and to determine of etiological factors bladder cancers in male patients, ovary and cervix cancers in female patients.
