In this study, fetal autopsy cases that were performed at HNH Pathology Laboratory between 1993-1997 were examined retrospectively for CNS anomalies. Within this period 352 fetal autopsy were done. The CNS anomalies are the most frequent anomaly group in 69 cases (20%). Most of them were neural tube defects (NTD) (68%). This group was followed by the forebrain and hindbrain development anomalies (holoprosencephaly, corpus callosum agenesis and Arnold-Chiari malformation) in 28% cases. Holoprosencephaly was the most frequent malformation in 15 cases (22%). Most frequently urinary system, respiratory system and skeletal system malformations were accompanied with CNS malformations. At the same time, Observations related to our fetal brain fixation method since 1996, are also presented.
