Sirenomelia wiTh multiple congenital malformations and tetralogy of Fallot
The postmortem examination of a sirenomelic 37 gestational weeks old fetus revealed occipital encephalocele, bilateral low-set and malformed ears, short neck and cleft palate and fusion of the lower extremity with a single femur. There were no development of feet of fingers. The other anomalies were; sternal agenesis, hypoplasia of the left upper extremity, and bilateral malformed hand, omphalocele, imperforated anus with no visible external genitalia, Tetralogy of Fallot, bilateral pulmonary hypoplasia, hypoplastic bladder, blind ended sigmoid colon and a single kidney localized in the midline region. Chromosomal analysis of the peripheral blood and rib showed normal 46,XY karyotype.
