Recurring calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor is an intraosseous odontogenic neoplasm which is seen particularly in the madibulae. It shows poor demarcation and local invasion. This rare tumor grows rather slowly, and it is characterized by polyhedral cells with squamoid appearance and by accumulation of amiloid-like material. Calcification of the amiloid-like material is one of the most important findings of the lesion, and is responsible for the irregular radiopaque areas radiologically. Clinically, it may form large masses which can be confused with lesions such as ameloblastoma, dentigerous cyst and osteosarcoma. In this study, a case of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor is presented, and the clinicopathologic findings are discussed in the light of the previous reports.
