Prostate cancer is a lesion that can create difficulty in histopathologic diagnosis and prognostic parametres. The role of morphometric methods have not been exactly determined yet. In this study, nuclear morhometric parametres (area, perimeter, "feretmin", "feretmax", "feretratio", "fcircle" and roundness index) have been evaluated H E stained on sections in selected neoplastic and nonneoplastic areas. Mean nuclear area, nuclear perimeter, "feretmin", "feretmax", "fcircle" and cicularity index have been determined as 55.96µ2 , 28.94µ , 7.31µ , 7.12µ , 0.887 and 1.096 in neoplastic areas and 27.16µ2 20.40µ , 5.07µ , 9.86µ , 0,909 and 1.091 in nonneoplastic areas respectively. Differences between morphometric values in neoplastic and nonneoplastic areas were found meaningful (p<0.0001) statistically. No statistically meaningful difference between thees parameters and Gleason score have been determined.

In conclusion, meaningful differences between the values of nuclear morphometric parameters in neoplastic and nonneoplastic areas have been determined. Thees differences may be useful in overcoming potential diagnostic difficulties.
