Cardiac myxomas are the most common cardiac neoplasm in adults. Although it is not certain, they are accepted to arise from the multipotent subendocardial cells. In this manuscript, three cases which were diagnosed as cardiac myxoma is reviewed from the aspect of fibronectin, laminin, collagen type IV, smooth muscle actin, and factor VIII expression. In all cases fibronectin, collagen type IV, smooth muscle actin, and factor VIII stainings were positive, whereas laminin staining was not achieved. There are very few report existing about the immunohistochemical properties of the cardiac myxomas, declaring the staining positivity with fibronectin, collagen type IV and laminin, all of which are basal membrane components, also smooth muscle actin, factor VIII. The negativitily of the laminin staining in our cases, was most probably due to the scarsity of the laminin secreting cells in our cases, since the myxomas can show various types of differention according to the mesenchymal elements the dominantly contain. In this manuscript immunohistochemical profile of the cardiac myxomas were rewieved.
