Vebtebral chordoma: A case report
This article is based upon a review of the clinical, radiologic and pathologic features for assessing the diagnostic criteria of chordomas. Cases with vertebral chordoma, having nerve stem, and spinal chord compression symptoms and pain usually show the radiologic pattern of lysis and calcification. A female patient of age 64 with soft tissue component and destructive changes limited in the corpus of L1 vertebra had chordoma diagnosis after postoperative histologic research.
Immunohistochemistry is used for histologic diagnosis of chordomas. Cytokeratin, EMA and S-100 antibodies were positive in our case and CEA stained negative. This case is presented radiologic and histologically because of its rare vertebral localisation.
