Chorangiomas are rare placental lesions which are similar to hemangiomas in other organs. In this study, we identified 6 cases of placental chorangioma from the files of Department of Pathology at Osmangazi University Medical Faculty between January 1990-July 1999. The association with the risk factors which may cause fetal morbidity and mortality including the size of chorangiomas, other associated placental pathologies, intrauterin growth retardation and prematurity were evaluated. The sizes of chorangiomas ranged from 2 mm to 7 cm. Three of the 6 cases were complicated with fetal death, and 2 of them resulted in intrauterin growth retardation. One case had no complication despite the large size of chorangioma. In conclusion, placental chorangiomas were frequently associated with the other placental pathologies and they might have been associated with increased incidence of perinatal morbidity and mortality .
