Summary
Angiogenesis is a fundamental process in reproduction, development and repair. Such physiologic angiogenesis is tightly regulated. Pathologic angiogenesis which is seen in neoplastic condition is the persistent growth of blood vessels, that is neovascularisation out of control. This review includes the definition and the historical background of angiogenesis, tumor development due to it, and the future use of antiangiogenic agents in anti-cancer therapy.
