In this study, tissue slides from 102 colorectal resection specimens examined between 1998-2002 in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Ondokuz Mayis University were retrospectively reevaluated. E-cadherin and Ki-67 expression were demonstrated immunohistochemically and relationship of E-cadherin and Ki-67 expression with differentiation, histological subtype and stage were investigated. E-cadherin expression was seen in 89 of 102 (87%) colorectal adenocarcinomas and mucinous carcinomas. Twentythree cases were (+), 32 cases (++) and 34 cases (+++). Ki-67 expression was seen in 86 cases (84%) with a mean value of 16.7%. There was a relationship between E-cadherin and Ki-67 expression and tumor differentiation. However no relationship between E-cadherin and Ki-67 index with tumor stage and histological subtype was found.
